Local Plan delayed again

Harborough District Council was due to consider the draft Local Plan 2011-2031 on Monday 10th July.  The reason given was  “…… to allow for the completion of a report by an external consultant.”

The Local Plan has taken over 4 years to develop.  This latest delay means that the public will now only get the statutory minimum 6 weeks to comment on the plan.

The new timetable is that the Executive will consider the draft Local Plan on 4th September and the Council will consider/agree the plan on Monday 18th September. Following this, the draft Local Plan will go out for public consultation.

Judicial Review withdrawn

In December 2016 dbSymmetry asks the courts to review the decision by HDC to grant planning permission to IDI Gazeley for a very large warehouse along Mere Lane.  The argument put forward was that HDC not fully considered the impact of the development on the adjacent deserted medieval village and that this impact could have been avoided by granting permission to dbSymmetry to build on the other side of the Cross in Hand roundabout.  We have recently learnt that dbSymmetry, IDI Gazeley and HDC have agreed to withdraw the Judicial Review.  This is obviously very disappointing for local residents.
